Durango
The video below was shot at 5,700 cfs in June of 2016.

Durango has about 7 features spread over about 3.5 miles. The river has a soft base so the features change frequently. There’s a lot to know about Durango and we are hoping we can get some knowledgable boaters to send us accurate and up to date information and videos.

The water cranks up in late April or early May, but is usually done in early July.

The official waterpark consists of 5 features.

Smelter wave is World Class at 2,800 offering any wave trick for intermediate through expert boaters. It has  lousy eddy service which may  intimidate less experienced boaters and may require some walking up.

About 75 yards down from Smelter wave is corner pocket which used to be great, but has changed and now offers a good to world class beat down at higher water levels.

Another 75 yards is the Ponderosa wave which offers good surfing and spinning at some levels.

Another 75 yards down is Clock Tower or Turd Whirler. It kicks in about 2,400 cfs and offers good surfing, spinning, and maybe a few cartwheels.

Spread out over the next couple miles between  the official play park and 4 Corners Riversports there are three? waves which come in and out at different levels. Depending on the level, we hear they can be beginner spots or very advanced spots.

There is also a world class hole for advanced and expert boaters between 1,600 and 2,300. It is located at 29th street and the river.

Durango offers great playboating at different levels. We sure hope somebody can share some more complete information.
