Montrose

The Montrose water park was new for 2015. We welcome other’s comments and videos.

The Montrose water park contains six features grouped relatively closely together.

Beginners learning to surf will find the park good from 200 to 400 CFS and excellent/worth-a-drive from about 500 to 800.

Kayakers wanting to surf and spin will find the park excellent/worth-a-drive from about 200 to 400 cfs and world class from 500 to 800 cfs.

Advanced boaters wanting to cartwheel, loop, and/or blunt will find the park usable from 200 to 400 and good beyond 500 cfs.

Expert kayakers will find the park disappointing at all levels.

There are inflows and outflows between the play park and the Colona gauge, so it is not 100% accurate for the play park flows. There is talk of a future gauge or a webcam pointing to a ruler, but it hasn’t appeared yet.

Stephen Franklin tells us, "The play park at Montrose over Labor Day weekend, 2015, still had OK to good surfing at features 1,3,4,5,6 @ 320 cfs."
